It's been a couple years since I bought this item... so I called to see if they had any sort of customer satisfaction return... and they do, but it's only for the first 30 days after purchase (which is dumb... because how often do people use their emergency kit within 30 days?)

I bought the backpack emergency 72 hour kit... and it's crap. The backpack is the worst on my shoulders and back that i've ever tried on, and the duct tape that came in it stuck as well as a cheap bandaid. It was pathetic. If you look at the ingredients on the emergency food bar... its basically flour+multivitamin+lemon and butter artificial flavoring+artificial coloring. There's no way I would be able to gulp that down... an only water diet for 72 hours sounds way better to me.

This store has many great prices on emergency products. However, I opened some number 10 cans the other day that were supposed to last "10 years"...after 4 years, my banana chips were moldy and the corn had weevil in it. I had just bought some new cans to replace them with, I immediately took those back. The funniest part was that when I told the girl, she wasn't surprised at all. Just kept doing the return. So strange. I wouldn't bet your money on a year supply of their freeze dried/dehydrated food!

The guy who answered said he understood that some of it wasn't top quality and its something seen across the industry. He says the kits are especially bad... it seemed they ordered it in from elsewhere... but says that the store has better quality stuff sold individually that can replace those bad quality items.

As for me, I'd rather buy the stuff individually from regular stores. I'll get duct tape at Target (because I know theirs works.) I'll buy cans of food rather than flavored flour-vitamin rations. And I'll get a good quality backpack that won't destroy my spine in less than an hour. So long Commercialized Emergency Preparedness Gluttonous Capitalists.
