It is for this reason that I don't recommend interacting with Orem police officers for any reason. Don't talk to them, don't look them in the eye. They see you as their inferior and have no desire to interact with you except to hurt you.
Of the six departments I've observed, I can say that Orem PD is the worst without a moment of hesitation. Every interaction I've had with them over the past five years has been overwhelmingly negative. The psychology of the Stanford Prison Experiment is in full bloom in the OPD, with its officers acting more as tyrants over an insignificant populace rather than public servants.
The other thing that made me create a google review account to get the word out there is a very clear case of police misconduct. I won’t mention the name of the officer he knows who he is. When his cat was found by a 15 year old girl, the girl thought the cat was a stray, and took it to the animal shelter. The cat had no tags and that violated city ordinance. The officer contacted the mother and making it very clear he was an orem officer demanded he be reimbursed for the money the shelter charged him. The officer doesn’t live in the city of orem and had no jurisdiction in the city he lives in. When his demands were refused he attempted to have the 15 year old girl charged with trespassing. The woman was able to attain legal counsel, and either the city officers, or city prosecutors decided not to pursue this clear overreach.
The person threatened by the officer refused to file an official complaint for fear of reprisal. With that said I would like the officer to know that they have nothing to do with my making this posts. So any reprisal against them would not accomplish anything, apart from potentially driving them to file the official complaint.
To first give some context, my original declared university major was Criminal Justice, and while I ultimately pursued something else, legal and criminal justice and philosophy is something I'm extremely passionate about. I've been closely involved with the courts and police in every city I've lived in, and have thus been able to observe quite a few police departments first-hand.
You can, and will do what you want with this post, but I suggest that instead of following your normal response pattern you do some introspection, and apologize to a few other posters, swallow some pride, and take negative feedback as an opportunity to improve.
The Orem police department is much very racist to anyone who is not of European decent. Especially towards Mexicans and blacks!
The facilities are well kept and easy to find. The staff are kind, but working a government job so don't expect amazing customer service.
When you have to tell the police officers multiple times your items where STOLEN FROM YOU & TO FILE A REPORT, it's A WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS. YOU PROBABLY SHOULD GET A NEW JOB. Thanks for nothing but trying to pass the buck. Keep up the good work.
Lastly you’ve mentioned on several posts your “wonderful” Facebook score. Sites that don’t allow threatening rebuttals show a very different story.
I have never used Google review before, but Orem city PD, has driven me to feel a need to write a real review, and not allow them to bully their way into a better score. If you don’t believe they use bully tactics when negative reviews are left read a few of the responses on their Facebook page. As officers I’m sure some people are just upset, but even legitimate suggestions for change in behavior are met with sarcasm, attacks, and comments about how the person should come and do their job. We do appreciate the service officers over the country provide, but Orem officers should remember they serve the community. They don’t serve their own self pride or interests. This includes actually listening and trying to be better when people write in suggestions, instead of their normal M.O..
