As far as the quality of the cars (since that is what most people care about the most) this place is not too bad. We took a car we wanted to buy (a 2005 Honda CRV with a rebuilt title) for a test drive and to be checked out by a mechanic. The car drove great and it seemed like the repairs done were good quality. There were no serious problems, but the car was going to need maintenance work that would total about $1500 (the tires were completely bald, new shocks were needed, an alignment was badly needed, the washer fluid reservoir needed to be replaced, etc.) We still wanted the car, so we figured if we negotiated the price down a little we would take it. The guy refused to budge on the price, even when we showed him the report from the mechanic.
Love my new car!
I called ahead of time to ask what time they closed than when I got there the door was locked, I called him two times waited another 10 20 minutes. Than once I got a hold of them he said he would send someone over and we waited another 10 minutes and no one showed up. They are not in the car dealership business.
True Story.. (Walk away if you are at this dealership) Bought a car that the owner said "is a great car ready to go" I trusted him and I recently graduated college and needed a car. I paid all the cash I had for the car and then I was on my way.
I went in and told him I need a new car you seriously sold me junk. He said there is nothing he can do and he would only take $100 dollars off any car to help me out. I kept my cool and could not believe he did not want to atleast try and help out a current customer. I was left with a terrible engine that would take $5000 to fix. He did not care his product I bought from him just last month was garbage. Stay away if you want good customer service, there are so many trusted dealerships that will help you if the car immediately starts having any troubles.
Very next morning I woke up to a flat tire no joke. I had to replace it. Next week the bushings were so bad the wheels were grinding and I spent $200 to replace them and then another $100 to fix the alignment. I was upset but understood because it was a used car. A few weeks later the engine started sounding way wierd and I lost all power. The gears were jumping up and down smoke started coming from under the hood. I did not drive this car for more than an hour a day. I pulled over to check it out. I had the car towed to my cousin that owns an auto shop. Before I even got my LICENSE PLATES FROM SAMURI AUTO SALES THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOAST!
I wouldn't shy away from buying a car there, I would just say make sure you do your homework. Test drive, get a pre-purchase inspection, shop around for price comparison, and get the CarFax.
The guy himself was not fun to work with in general. We never felt that he cared at all about us or even about making a sell to us. He got really defensive when I asked to see the CarFax and said he didn't waste money on CarFax. I'm not going to judge a guy for a business decision like that, but when I took down the Vin Number so I could look up the CarFax myself he got pretty defensive saying I was wasting my time. It made me wonder if he had something to hide. Had we decided to buy the car, I would have looked the CarFax up beforehand just to be sure.
I had a really great experience at Samurai Auto Sales. I got a great deal on a manual Toyota Corolla. I felt very comfortable as I looked at different cars that I was interested in. I didn't feel pressured or coerced into anything. It felt like making a deal with a great friend. I highly recommend Samurai Auto Sales!
Bad customer service, okay cars. If you just want an okay, cheap car and don't care too much about customer service (which is essentially the boat that we were in), this place is not a bad place. If you want a dealership where you can sit down and have an adult conversation with a salesman, stay away.
Now, I do understand that these are used cars and used cars typically do require a little bit of maintenance, but this car was selling for $5000 when the same car with a completely clean title is valued at $5300, so even without the mechanical issues there should have been some wiggle room for price negotiation.
